In our hands on test, the battery lasted close to 7 hours which is considered to be good. Our test includes browsing HD videos over Wi-Fi and 3G, calls for 2 hours, Skype and WhatsApp chats, texting messages, listening to music, playing games and so on. Unlike other phones there are no heating issues with continuous usage also and you can use this smart phone continuously.
Another important feature of this phone is Power Saving Mode. Sony developed this phone with extreme care and took special care on battery issues. Power Saving Mode is specially designed to meet the requirements of the phone when the charge in the battery is very less. This mode intelligently manages the available power in the battery and gives extended life with the help of available power. This mode will turn off your data when you lock your screen. There are even options to allow certain apps like email, whatsApp etc. to allow data, but you have to select them individually. This mode is considered as a nice innovation and we are expecting that other mobile manufacturers will also follow it in the near future. In our personal experience also this mode performed reasonably well.
Reviews show that though some of Xperia Z customers complain about heavy battery drain, the overall response is positive and most of the Xperia Z users are satisfied with its battery performance. If the battery drains heavily then one might have opened several apps and didn’t close them properly. As the phone supports multitasking, if you don’t close app properly, it will drain battery.
