BlackBerry is known for its sophisticated mobiles from years. With its popular model Curve 9220, it has also started to acquire its market share in the mid range mobile segment also. This smart phone comes with BlackBerry 7.1OS and with 512MB ROM and 512MB RAM. QWERTY Keyboard and optional track Pad along with sensors like proximity sensor, accelerometer sensor etc. made the operation of this phone comfortable and user-friendly. Less weight, sleek dimensions and BlackBerry’s special features like push mail, voice memo etc. made this phone suitable for both college going students and business executives alike. Though you don’t need the resetting process for your BlackBerry, it is better to know how to reset BlackBerry 9220.

In the home screen select and click on “Options”. Then select “Security” and select “Security Wipe”. You can select the checkboxes you want to delete and you have to check all the boxes for factory reset. Before starting the process the mobile will ask you to confirm your action with password. Usually the password is blackberry and if you changed the previous password confirm your action by typing the password. Select “Wipe Data”, this will delete all the data that is present on your BlackBerry Curve and the phone will be restored to its default settings after the process is over.


You can even reinstall the whole mobile OS if you have some technical knowledge regarding mobiles. You must not be a technology geek but some technical knowledge would be sufficient. Download BlackBerry desktop Manager and install it to your computer. BlackBerry desktop Manager is free to download and anyone can easily download it. If you are windows user, click on “Start” and then click on “All Programs”. Then go to Accessories folder and click on “Command Prompt”. You have to be in the administrator position the computer to do this. Then if you are using 32-bit OS type “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader” and if you are using 64 bit OS type “C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader” and press Enter. Then connect your phone to computer and type “loader.exe /resettofactory” in the command prompt. This will reinstall your mobile OS deleting the previously existed data. If you are using a Mac computer, then click on “Go” and then click on Applications. In the applications, go to Utilities and select terminal in the utilities. cd /Applications/BlackBerry\ Desktop\ Software.app/Contents/MacOS. Then connect your phone to computer via USB and type ./bbdm resettofactory and press Enter.

The above process is similar to flashing or rotting of mobile and requires some knowledge about applications and how they function to perform this better. It is always a better option to perform this type of resetting in experts presence or under experts guidance so that you won’t get unwanted problems.

BlackBerry phones are usually well designed and they won’t give any problem or inconvenience to their users. If the problem of your phone still exists after the reset also, then give your BlackBerry phone to qualified BlackBerry personnel for repairs.
