Refrigerators have become common need for household now days. Even people in the remote areas are using refrigerators and several electronic companies are producing and promoting refrigerators. LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Onida are some of the popular brands while considering the refrigerator segment. LG is the most recommended brand for refrigerators for its quality and customer service. Refrigerator requires careful handling and even one small error will cause problems affecting the normal working of refrigerator. There are so many common problems that occur frequently and are faced by several refrigerator customers regularly.
Troubleshooting the Most Common Problems with LG Refrigerators
LG refrigerators are recently in news due to several complaints about their refrigerators especially on the model LFC22760. As one of the companies which have a big stake in the electronics market, LG has been at the forefront of making very powerful refrigerators which have been in use for a long time.
However, in the recent past, owners of many LG refrigerators have reported problems which have gotten many people worried that maybe the company had lost its mojo in this field. A typical LG refrigerator will come with lots of features. If, however, they do no work as advertised, it may present a problem for many users. News of several people losing valuable foods that were stored in refrigerator, cases of bulbs in the refrigerator exploding etc. is being reported.
Exploding Bulbs:
Among the most common LG refrigerator problems is that of exploding bulbs inside the fridge. LG refrigerators have doors that may fool the users into thinking they have shut them when they would not have done so. As long as the doors are not shut tight, the bulb will be kept on. Bulbs produce light by converting electric current into heat and light. The bulb will thus get warm on the inside, but cold on the outside owing to the low temperature of the fridge. It eventually busts.
ALSO READ: LG vs. Samsung: Which Refrigerator Is Better?
The main reason for blasts of bulbs in refrigerator is due to not properly closing of refrigerator door. When anybody doesn’t close the door of refrigerator properly, the light will be in the on condition and if it is in the same state for long time due to temperature variance, the bulb blasts resulting in fire inside the refrigerator. Sometimes this fire may turn into blast which can damage part of your house or complete house also.
The remedy for this problem is making sure that the doors are closed tightly.
Problems like obstruction in the path of flow to dispenser, ice maker problems, sensors not working, strange sounds while refrigerator is on (other than sounds that occur while ice is getting saddled at the back side) etc. must be considered as serious problems and they require immediate attention and urgent repairs.
LG Refrigerator Leaking Water:
Another problem that is frequently reported by LG users is water leaking from the refrigerator. There are 5 possible causes to this issue. And they include the following…
(1) – Freeze of the Defrost Drain.
If this occurs, water will flow over the drain, thus dripping to the end of the compartment. Eventually, that water can leak onto the floor.
In this situation, we recommend checking the drain to see if it’s frozen or clogged. If the drain is frozen, we recommend thawing the ice.
Also, we recommend flushing the drain with hot water, ensuring that the debris is cleared.
(2) – Tank Assembly
There might be a leak in the tank assembly. If you find a leak there, you’ll need to replace the water tank.
(3) – Water Inlet Valve
You might have an open water inlet valve. This is the mechanism that sends water to the icemaker and dispenser. If you have a cracked or loosened inlet valve, then water will leak from it.
Be sure to inspect the inlet, and ensure that it’s tightly connected to a water supply line.
(4) – Housing Cracks
Inspect your water filer. Check for any cracks in the housing, and if you find any, then be sure to replace them.
(5) – Filter Head
Your water filter head may be cracked. The seal might not be available, or it might be torn. Be sure to inspect the water filter for cracks, and if you find any, replace the system.
Cracking Shelves:
Other problem that is frequently reported by LG users is cracks and/or breakdown of shelves. This is due to complete ignorance. LG will specify the limit for each shelf or rack and if you put weight above that threshold it can’t tolerate and breaks down. Most LG refrigerator owners who have voiced their concern about the problems with this electronic equipment present the fact that some of the shelves break or crack when in use. Such LG refrigerator problems stem from the fact that each shelf has a stated amount of weight that it can carry comfortably. Most users store more weight in foods and other items on the shelves than the shelves can withstand. The low temperatures in the fridge will likely make the shelves brittle such that they crack with ease or break when the weight is too much to bear.
Availability of Spare Parts:
Another important problem faced by LG users is the spare parts availability. Though it is true that LG spare parts are tough to find, if you maintain your refrigerator properly, you won’t need any spare parts throughout its life time .Some owners of LG refrigerators have voiced their concerns as far as the availability of the spare parts for their fridges is concerned. Most people agree that there is a shortage in the number of spare parts available for their machines. An LG refrigerator may require various spare parts such as the lighting bulbs and shelves or cooling coil, but it has proven a tricky situation. To obtain these parts, one should consult with the nearest LG service center. If they do not have the spare parts in stock, they can order it from the parent company in a few days.
LG Refrigerator Using Up Too Much Electricity:
Among the most common LG refrigerator problems reported are that the fridges are using up too much energy. This problem has been common among new users who claim the electricity bill has considerably gone up after buying the fridge. What they need to know is that LG refrigerators come with various modes which determine the temperatures inside the fridge. If one sets the temperature to the lowest level, be sure that the electricity bill will go up no matter what happens. The remedy for this is to set the fridge to the required temperature levels only.

LG Refrigerator Not Cooling Enough:
Another LG refrigerator problem reported is that of poor cooling by the fridge.
(1) Condenser Coil Issue
This problem occurs when the condenser coil of the fridge is dirty. The condenser coil is the part of the LG refrigerators at the back that looks like a coiled pipe. Their purpose is to spread out heat which goes through them. When clean, the coil dissipates heat from the fridge allowing for the proper cooling of the internals of the fridge. However, when dirty, it will fail to let go of the heat and thus retain it within the internal compartments of the fridge.
Be sure to check your condenser coils. If they’re dirty, give them a good cleaning.
(2) Condenser Fan Motor Issue
Condenser fan motors draw air through their coils. If the fan motor isn’t operating properly, then this means that the fridge won’t cool correctly.
To check if the motor isn’t working, look at the fan blade. Try to find obstructions in it. After that, turn off the fan motor’s blade by-hand. And if your blade isn’t spinning freely, then replace the motor’s condenser.
You can use multi-meters to check for the fan motor’s continuity. And if there isn’t any, then replace it.
(3) Evaporator Fan Issue
Evaporator fans bring in air through the cooling coils, while circulating it to the different compartments of the fridge/freezer.
If the fan isn’t working, then it won’t circulate air to the rest of the fridge. And here, it’s necessary to check if the fan motor is defective.
Try turning the fan blade by-hand. If there’s friction, then you probably need a motor replacement.
Problems with the Ice Maker:
Those who reported problems with the ice maker state that the ice cubes did not form as independently as required. Rather, they form as a single block of ice which makes them hard to use. This problem will occur if the temperature in the freezer goes beyond 10 degrees Fahrenheit. This aspect causes the buildup of frost in the freezer. The formed frost will jeopardize the free circulation of air in the evaporator coil. Ensure that the defrost heater is working properly to prevent such problems. Most users do not realize that the problems with their fridges come from their own negligence.
Damaged Foods:
The complaints about damaged good are of two kinds namely rotten foods or broken food items such as eggs. The rotten foods scenario occurs when the temperatures in the fridge are not low enough to preserve the food. This may be as a result of not closing the fridge door well or having a dirty condenser coil. Ensure one shuts the doors well and has a clean condenser coil. Cleaning the coil is not a technical issue and can be done at home either with a brush with long bristles or with a piece of soft clothing. Broken foods such as eggs occurs when one slams the door too hard or stuffs in too many items than the fridge can accommodate.
Too Noisy or very loud:
Another problem reported is LG refrigerator is noisy or loud, this happens when one of the doors are opened, either the evaporator or condenser fan motor or fan blade be at fault. Firstly, check out the evaporator fan blade in the freezer behind the back panel. Try rotating it by hand. If the fan blade does not rotate freely, check if something caught in the blade. If the evaporator motor is damaged, it often generates a lot of noise. You may have to replace it.
Then check the condenser motor or fan blade in the back underside of the refrigerator to find if anything that blocks. There might be something obstruction in the condenser fan motor blade, or the condenser fan motor bearings might be damaged. To check this, you may have to remove the rear access panel which is at the back of the refrigerator .
LG Refrigerator Not Defrosting:
Another problem reported is LG refrigerator is not defrosting: To know if refrigerator is defrosting or not, check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.
The defrost heater runs on several times throughout the day to melt any ice that is build up on the evaporator coils.Very often, the refrigerator has to go through a defrost cycle to melt this frost that may have accumulated on the coils from the moisture in the air. If the defrost heater is defective and the ice formed on the coil is not melting, the ice eventually builds up to the point that it blocks airflow. Use a multi-meter to test the continuity of defrost cycles. If the defrost heater does not have continuous cycles, you may have to replace it.
These are the common problems and any company’s refrigerator will get them if the maintenance is poor or low.
In general small problems of refrigerators are neglected and when they turn into serious problems people generally blame the refrigerator companies. If you go through LG customer reviews, most of them are positive and LG refrigerator users recommend them to others. But LG requires proper care else you will end up with problems.
Got a Refrigerator? Here are Some Maintenance Tips to Keep it In-Check!
Fridges are a vital yet expensive utility. And you can’t afford to replace one too often…
Do you have a LG fridge ,then you have to take a proper care of the refrigerator in order to avoid any problems to occur. And today, we’ll help you with that.
We’ve got 4 routine habits to follow. Apply them, and enjoy a refrigerator that’s always in top-notch condition!
First – Clean Condenser Coils Twice/Year
A condenser coil’s job is to cool your refrigerator.
They’re a mechanism that removes heat from your refrigerator and freezer. And they often look like large radiator coils behind (or underneath) your refrigerator’s structure.
When too much dust collects on the coils, removing heat becomes difficult. And this leads to difficulty cooling the fridge, and more energy consumption.
As a worst-case scenario, heat might build up, thus ruining your refrigerator’s wiring.
What to Do
Check your condenser coil cleaning instructions in your refrigerator’s manual. Get an idea on how often you should clean.
As for the process, you’ll need to disconnect the refrigerator from the power outlet. From there, use a bristle brush and vacuum to take off the dust.
Second – Clean or Replace Your Gasket
Gaskets are the rubber seals which outline freezer doors and fridges. They’re often the overlooked portion, and they have the vital job of sealing warm air out.
You’ll need to occasionally clean the gasket. You’ll need to use a spray too (preferably Goo Gone Concentrated).
On the other hand, if your gasket is worn out, you’ll need to consider a replacement. Those wears usually occur as a result of excess heat.
And no worries, replacing gasket isn’t a serious issue. They’re usually cheap to swap out!
Third – Defrost
Refrigerators and freezers build up excess ice over time, which takes up space. Not to mention, the ice gets in the way of cooling.
You need to defrost them. And how you do so depends on the type of freezer or refrigerator you have!
Manual Defrosting Freezers and Refrigerators
When frost fully accumulates on the insides of a freezer, and it reaches a 1 ½ inch thickness, you’ll need to defrost.
Start by taking the food out of the fridge/freezer. Switch off the thermostat, and proceed to unplug your fridge.
From there, let the frost melt. After everything melts successful, switch back on the unit again, then wait for the unit to get to operating temperature before adding the food back in.
Self-Defrosting
Here, you won’t need to do much. Self-defrost refrigerators heat up cooling parts a bit to melt the excess ice, where the water will drop onto a pain within the fridge.
You need to ensure that the water doesn’t evaporate. And this requires a periodical cleaning of the pan to prevent bacteria and odor accumulation.
Also, you’ll need to use minor amounts of detergent and some warm water. So be sure to check your owner manual for exact instructions.
Fourth – Interior Cleaning
Once a week, get a cloth and damp it in warm water.
After switching off your refrigerator, proceed to wipe spills and crumbs on the walls and shelves. Here, a multi-purpose cleaner can help you remove stains, and without trouble!
Making a Choice on Refrigerator While Buying
Customers are advised only to take the types of fridges which will fit their needs rather than buying due to the excitement with features. A fridge that is too big will likely cost more to maintain given that it requires more power to cool its internal compartments and may come with features one does not need yet require a lot of power to maintain. It may also take up unnecessary space.
Despite of the above mentioned problems LG is still favorite choice for many users while buying refrigerators. It is because of their durable and long lasting nature with less power usage. Unlike other brands, in LG you will have the flexibility to choose the refrigerator according to your needs. There are several models available like cabinet depth refrigerators, side by side cooling door model, bottom freezers and French door refrigerator etc. in LG and LG insists its customers to buy the refrigerator not by model but according to their requirements and needs. Are you facing any problem with your LG refrigerator? Post it in the comments below.
fridge model LRFVC2406D /00
have already had the icemaker in the door replaced.
now are attempting to replace the water filter in the bottom of the door and it will not stay in . After running a bit of water it pops out. seems to be only one way to push it in and twist. On the twist i go a bit and it stops solid . this seems not good enough as it pops out after a few seconds use.
Help!!!!
Our LG french door, bottom freezer drawers, refrigerator developed a problem after a few months use; the freezer drawer stopped closing properly on one side, causing ice buildup. So called “customer service” st LG was useless. They just said “buy a new drawer”, which would have meant replacing the bottom half of the refrigerator! No response at all to my request for further information or a service number to call. I’ll NEVER BUY LG again.
The ice maker is not working (does not make ice cubes, it fills with water and no ice cubes, what can be done?)
I have had my LG French Door refrigerator for at least 10 years and all of a sudden the interior lights started to discolor almost looked like it was burning the top part of the white plastic part of where the light bulbs sits. I have taken the bulbs out as I was worried it might start a fire.
I do not understand why this has all of a sudden occurred. The light bulbs have been the original ones.
we have had NOTHING but trouble with the ice maker they said it was the stopped line it might have lasted two months, same song second verse three more times. Even to having the freezer door on a side by side replaced; then this am woke up to no ice and we can’t find ANYONE to work on it now. Times are to hard and money is too hard to come by. Thought I had a good one LG is or was supposed to be the one to buy. Can’t afford another one and can’t get this one fixed.
my side by side not cheap piece of shit died life is good
Bought our LG French 4 door refrigerator/freezer from HD 4-5 years ago. Noticed water dripping from ice dispenser door. Didn’t realize the compressor was dying until I opened the freezer section to find frozen food melting. Did all the diagnostic but no error code came up. Called a few repairmen some said they will not repair an LG finally got one to take on the job. Did all his diagnostics, said the compressor was shot and ordered a new one. Installed the new compressor, plugged it in made one short rumbling sound then silence. Two more hours testing and checking due to disbelief that the compressor would be D O A, but a continuity test proved it was dead. Called the factory for a replacement was told no longer shipping compressor. He packed up his tools and left. Now I have an expensive paper weight. Why was it that refrigerators used to last decades and now they are only food for a half dozen years. The only real moving part is a compressor and that is self-contained. Very few moving parts yet made very cheaply for planned obsolescence. In short JUNK.
I have a LG side by side fridge freezer.
The unit trips the main earth leakage breaker but only in the evening.
I have checked and changed the capacitors for the starting and running of the motor.
The unit still trips, checked the cooling fan that is running ok
Checked the compressor all is fine.
What can cause the unit to trip the earth leakage.
Thanking You
The LG side by side refrigerator model LSXS26326 came with the house we purchased last year. Went out of town and came home to defrosted food and 65 degrees in the refrigerator. I called the 800 number and after all the choose this or that I had to leave a message because of the Covid-19 no one is in the office. The back of the unit looks very clean. The condenser sounds like its working however the temp is 70 inside. HELP!!
I have an LSXS26386S side by side refrigerator that stopped working. We left our home on Thursday 5/21/2020 and returned home 5/26/2020 with the food totally defrosted and 65 degree fridge. Lost $400 of food. What do I do to get it to work? It was bought 4/5/2016. HELP please, I have Victoza (diabetic medicine) that needs to be refrigerated. The medicine cost $1200 a month. I have 2 months worth of medicine going bad. Thank you
My LG refrigerator was purchased May, 2018. the compressor had to be replaced in Aug, 2019 (out of warranty). Today, May 2, 2020 —- woke up to all my refrigerator and freezer food warm….. here we again. How many times do we pour money into this to ‘save our investment in the refrigerator’ or just put a lemon sign on it?! So frustrating to spend that much money on a supposedly top quality refrigerator and get this type of product!!
My LG LFXS30766s/03 is 2.5 years old. stopped working a week ago, LG repairman changed the compressor and the coil. He told me don’t put anything in it for 2 days which we did. it worked for 2 days and then stopped cooling, scheduled the repairman to come back, the night before water started gushing out the water dispenser all over the kitchen, we were lucky we were home to catch it. just can’t imagine what would have happened if we weren’t home. I unplugged the refrigerator and plugged it back in, it started cooling when the repairman showed up he couldn’t tell what was wrong so he didn’t do anything but fixed the water dispenser which wasn’t under warranty. he did us a favor. water dispenser electronics were messed up because water from ice maker ran all over it. it would have cost me $400 t0 get it fix. woke up this morning the temperature inside the fridge is 58 deg, after all the research I think fans are bad which I don’t know if they cover it under warranty. saga continues!. never again I’ll buy a LG but looks like all are the same, lucky to get 5 years out of any of them. our old refrigerator lasted 30 years and still was working when we got rid of it. Amazing!
LG French-door refrigerator. Freezer and refrigerator started getting warmer, and warmer, and warmer. Digital controls do not even reflect the real temperature which is around 60 degrees. Bought in April 7, 2016. It is December 4, 2019. After reading all the bad reviews, I am not even going to try to repair it. Linear compressor model. LFX28968ST.
Bought an LG Fridge and stove a few years back. Paid almost $5K for the two appliances. The convection range lasted under 2 years. The ice maker on the fridge just went out, and I had the repair the left door as it wouldn’t stay closed. Also owned two LG Smart Phones that lasted about 2 years each. LG IS JUNK! Never buy again.
LG Refrigerators sucks !!! I bought mine from Sears less than 4 years ago and today I found out it is not worth fixing. The technician said LG has problems with compressors and I would just be replacing in a few months. Just mad to read and find out that so many others have this same problem! We work to hard to just throw away money and thought we were making a good investment with LG well Life is not Good ! I will continue to give bad reviews of anything LG!
Exactly! LG fridge went out and not 1 business listed as an “authorized” repairman will work on LG refrigerators anymore!
Been on hold now after speaking with LG customer service for 4 days now, for 25 minutes…
DO NOT BUY LG
LG service technicians will give you the runaround they are not experienced refrigerator technicians do not buy an LG refrigerator !
We bought our Lg refrigerator 6 years ago and it had a 10 year warranty. We have been fighting with LG to fix the refrigerator and no one will fix it in our area because LG owes them money and will not pay them. Can’t blame them for not wanting to work for free!! LG says they would pay us a percentage of what our refrigerator is worth. Today I get an email saying they will pay us nothing. I’m VERY upset with LG!! Never buy LG!!!
What is wrong with yours, looking for known problems, ours the freeze quits working has done it twice, they gave us a code of things to do to fix it, and that works, but it doesn’t save our food, now looking for another brand to buy that has the same things in common that we love about the LG.
LG 3-door refrig. 2.5 years old, Has had motherboard, temp sensors, and complete “sealed system” replaced. Not fixed. BestBuy extended warranty is basically useless…unresponsive, long delays, attempts to dodge the warranty responsibilities. Will save myself the problems dealing with both LG and BestBuy in the future.
I have an LG refrigerator model LFXS246623 with the bottom freezer. The unit is 3 1/2 years old and the compressor when out. I called LG for repair options and they had me perform a remote diagnostic check. The LG rep told me to check door alignment and run for 24 hrs. to see if it gets cold again. Temperature inside the unit went up, not down. I called the local LG authorized repair company and they came out to fix it. Repairman said it was the compressor not working. He told me that LG has had a problem with their compressors in the model I have. LG has corrected the problem on their replacement compressors. I was charged $375.00 for the labor and freon, and the compressor was under warranty. If LG knows it has a bad product in their refrigerator, why am I paying to get it fixed? I called LG to ask for a refund on the labor and was told, after one year, they don’t cover any labor on repairs. Not even the car companies get away with that. If they know there’s a problem, they should make good on the entire rebill bill. This is my last LG purchase.
I have a four year old LG French door bottom freezer it stopped working last Monday and had a tech out on Tuesday who told me compressor is OK that the coolent leaked out. Paid the tech $120.00 to check it out, purchased the unit at Lowe’s who is telling me the cooling unit is under contract with LG until 2020 and it has been a week without a response from LG. What a piece of crap, now we are in a short holiday week and I suspect even if they cover this that I will not have it repaired until sometime the week of July 8th at the best.
Bought our LG French Door March of 2017. Compressor tanked on Father’s Day weekend. Still waiting for the compressor from LG. It’s now the 26th of June. Nothing from the repairman, I feel like they are just ignoring us now. Went on line and found LG’s have tons of compressor problems and they quit within 2 to 3 years of purchase. I’m beginning to think that LG SUCKS. We paid $4,600 for a top of the line refrigerator and its useless. Going on 2 weeks without a fridge and we can’t afford to eat out every nite of the week. I will never purchase an LG again.
4 yrs old and was just told by the repair guy that the linear compressor is shot! Never will buy LG products again!!!
About 2 months after purchasing the unit, the heating element that controls the defrost mode went out and had to be replaced. Also, this unit makes a horrible vibrating noise when the compressor runs. If I put my hand on the door, it immediately quiets down. When I told the technician about it, he said it wasn’t anything he could fix. They sent another technician out and he said “this is normal” and that the new compressors are just loud. That doesn’t make sense because when I put my hand on the doors, it immediately quiets down. National Platinum Services won’t send anyone out unless I agree to pay a $95 fee. I refuse to agree to this as the unit is new and is under warranty.
LG says this is an installation problem and not their problem. LG told me to watch a video on how to level the unit and sent me a wrench for the doors. I have both front legs as high as they will go and the wrench they sent doesn’t fit – one end is too small and the other is too big. LG confirmed that the wrench they sent is the only one they have for the refrigerator, yet no one can tell me how to adjust the doors without it. I talked with a supervisor who said they would send someone out free of charge to get it level but that never happened. A month went by and now LG is saying a new policy went into effect 2 weeks ago and I have to pay the fee. I find it highly suspicious that National Platinum Services avoided contacting me until the new policy took effect. BTW:Both technicians who came pulled the unit out from the wall without re-leveling it.
Now today the heating element that was replaced is not working properly and ice and frost is building up in my freezer. I’m beginning to think that the whole line of “your refrigerator is not properly leveled” is just a stalling tactic from LG and they know these units’ defrost mechanisms are not designed/built properly. Perhaps this is why there’s such a bad vibration and noise. They’re just trying to waste time and wait for the warranty to run out.
NEVER. BUY. LG. EVER.

It seems that Life’s (not so) Good with fridges that are leaving owners cold and food not so much. Samsung washers are agitating owners when they leak or quit with parts back-ordered. Maybe Kim Jung Un could loan out his unemployed Nork Nuke engineers to help solve these problems and get the peninsula back in the green again.
Bought our $3000 French Door LG from Costco 9 months ago. Service man from Sears/A&E Service comes right out here in Vegas. LG phone reps are from the Philippines and speak pretty good English. So far they have replaced the icemaker, then the compressor. Two days later – it’s only cooling to 60 degrees. Waiting for them to return. Seems the techs have limited diagnostic skills and just start replacing stuff. Better training would be in order. I’ll keep until warranty is up then junk it if it ever needs another repair.
We own an LG French Door refrigerator/freezer with ice maker. The floor of the freezer has black particles scattered. Also, our ice cubes have black specks. Has anyone else had this problem.
What is the life of a lg side by side? Built my home in 2011 have had 2 refrigerator/freezers in the last 7 years. I’m disgusted with these refrigerators. They should last longer than 3 or 4 years.
enless problems with teh ice maker
We just took our LG fridge to the dumps. Within the first year we were having problems with the ice maker and were advised to thaw it out and make sure the ice maker didn’t freeze up.Then the compressor had went out after less than 4 years. The authorized service shop for northern Utah is Mark A Newt. They will not work on a LG fridge anymore. They said that in the last year they have only been paid once for the work they have done for LG, and they don’t know of anyone who will work on them. They advised us not to buy another one. I plan on telling everyone I know about LG.
My LG french door bottom freezer was less than 4 years old when it stopped making ice in March 2018. Then the freezer temp went up just enough to defrost fruit but nothing else. I contacted LG.com. Rep gave me three authorized repair shops. First one said they don’t repair the compressors and had already notified LG to NOT give out their phone number. Second number didn’t answer. No voice mail. Nothing. Third shop sent a repairman who diagnosed compressor and condenser coil. After replacing them for $630, the temperature is fine but there is a loud whine (and sometimes the sound of water running) for about 60 seconds after closing the freezer door. I’ve also noticed frost on the front of the inside drawers. Today I was quoted $292 to replace the fan. Almost $1000, and no guarantee the fan will solve the noise issue. After reading these comments, I think I will take the hit and buy a new refrigerator today.
Today, the word SERVICE is used onkly to the advantage of the SELLER / MANUFACTURER …it’s BUYER beware….
JUNK CAN NOT DEPEND ON LG PRODUCTS OR SEARS SERVICE FOR REPAIR!
Retired, on a fixed income, purchased from SEARCH with extended warranty, thought it would be our last big appliance purchase. AWFUL PURCHASE AND WORST REPAIR SERVICE EVER! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE from foreign reps who don’t speak ENGLISH! 2 months without a refrigerator and no available repair techs even though the part is here for installation. Supposed to be a bad compressor, but won’t depend on a dependable refrigerator.
Bought an LG French Door refrigerator in 2013. Have replaced the compressor 5 times since then. Each time, they charge me around $500 labor to fix it. Run from these LG refrigerators. DO NOT BUY!! Check the web and you will find hundreds of complaints similar to mine!
I agree with all of the above comments….LG is junk…we were told by repair men that LG only makes parts for 7 years and after that you are out of luck….and after trying everywhere for parts I am furious. I have a big sign on my refrigerator telling anyone that comes over about what isn’t working on it. And there is no one who will listen anywhere….and they keep selling them….Places that sell this brand should wise up and not “talk them up” or worse sell them…
LG 4 door stainless steal refrigerator completely broke Aug 23,18 buy right replaced compressor on Sat. September 29,2018. Now the ice maker isn’t working and it’s only cooling down to 60 so I can’t keep anything in it.So back on the phone tomorrow.Bought our LG from Best Buy got the 5 year warranty in Sept 2015 can’t believe all these bad reviews. I will never buy anything LG ever again and will buy nothing from Best Buy again they use AIG when you get a warranty thru them and they contract out to companies here in Las Vegas.R +Appilance came out first said it was my compressor but they don’t replace LG compressor Why would that company send them to my home when they don’t even work on them just unorganized mess.
Bought an LG fridge in 2015, had to exchange it with in 2 weeks because the ice maker would not work . 3 years later and the compressor went out, got that fixed but then the dryer was shot, got that fixed now the freezer is like the fridge part and the fridge is freezing everything.. on going problems for 4mths so far and LG customer service has done nothing but give me the run around ! The appliance company that has been working on the fridge even called LG and told the techs that the fridge is not repairable, but LG claims it is. I will NEVER buy another LG appliance again !
I have had my new refrigerator for one week. I replaced my old French Door with two door freezer with this new one. I have noticed that the light in the bottom drawer does not come on. I do remember previous refrigerator light in drawer area. Guess I will call as my fridge is under warranty. I love my fridge but wish this was not happening…..I need lights.
3 year old LG refrigerator continues to have problems.
After replacing the display panel twice because it delaminated, the thin layer on the display panel and I’m not talking about the protection later but the permanent facing on the display panel has delaminating. Now my control board is acting up and I cannot turn off the icemaker dispenser without locking the control panel. I am now waiting on a new Control circuit board to be delivered.
this morning when drawing water it made a loud vibrating sound that you could feel. Now it’s not doing it
LG should be put out of business! My refrigerator/freezer is a French door, stainless steel, two lower freezer compartments- top of the line and it is a piece of JUNK! Within weeks of purchase, we were on the second icemaker, then on to the 3rd compressor and multiple tech visits. Now it is HOT again! Ruined food, ruined hardwood floors, my kitchen is a disaster with the contents of the freezer having to be stored in coolers with bags of ice! Take my advice and NEVER BUY LG! Their corporate and managerial customer service reps (Jessica in Alabama) don’t care at all and convey an attitude of boredom! I am shocked and discouraged that any company can stay in business and supposedly have reviews on Consumer Reports when there are thousands of unhappy consumers just like me!!!! STOP!!ABSOLUTELY do NOT fall for the whole Life is Good bit- It is a LIE and they are cheats!!
Had my French door LG refrigerator for 4 yrs no problem..Then ice maker stopped working then refrigerator stopped working. My phone started defrosting almost immediately called PC Richards scheduled tech they came by told me the compressor was not working they had to order me a new one waited a week the night before the techs were to come by l was cleaning the back of the refrigerator I moved the copper wire next thing I know I have a leak ..It is coming out of the left side the bottom part of the refrigerator this should not have happened I guess this proves how poorly made these products really are because I moved the refrigerator and the coil wiring it’s Sprung a leak
this is ridiculous I paid good money for this refrigerator now I have to stay up to make sure that my floors don’t get messed up from all the water leaking out of the refrigerator I am disgusted I have a warranty but the only thing the PC Richards Would do is replace the compressor not the refrigerator I am so disgusted with LG ….A company in business this long should have way better products….I would never buy LG again…. yes life is good as long as you do not purchase an LG refrigerator ……..
We spent over 4,000 on an LG french door refrigerator. It died last Nov 12th, and Sears (where we bought it) said I had to wait for a compressor to be sent, as it was on national backorder due to nation wide linear compressor failures in LG refrigerators. The part arrived in 1 week, but Sears kept rescheduling the repair due to no service techs in my area. Finally in February they came and replaced the compressor. It still wasnt cooling. They came again in March and “fixed” the soldering leaks they supposedly found, but it still wasnt cooling. They came again in april, tore the ENTIRE refrigerator apart down to the frame trying to find the leak, but LG insisted that their refrigerators dont have problems and told the repairman to reorder and reinstall yet another compressor. Now we are waiting on the part, as there is STILL a national backorder of compressors. Still without a refrigerator, just an LG branded hunk of junk in my kitchen. ☆BEWARE BUYING AN LG REFRIGERATOR☆, they KNOW that they are defective, but nobody will do anything to help defrauded customers!!! DONT BUY AN LG unless you have money to waste.
Do not buy a LG refrigerator !
I purchased an LG Refrigerator, MODEL # LFC22760ST in March 28th, 2016, wasn’t delivered until April 21, 2016. First problem happened June 2016, freezer was defrosting everything. Repair tech told my husband to cut a hole in the outside wall of my house for better ventilation. Also had to run the AC to keep the kitchen cool. Then it worked okay for a little while.
Then in January 2017 everything thawed out again. The teach came and replaced the motherboard. March 2017, it happened again, they told us we were out of warranty- but i haven’t had it for a year yet. They told me warranty is from the purchased day not the delivered day. So then we purchased the extended warranty.
May 18, 2017 they came back to replace the defrost sensor.
Now November 2017, called again on Friday and couldn’t get an appointment till Tuesday. Tech shows up Tuesday with no parts, and says hell be back the next day to replace the compressor.
some 5 start rating for LG!
BEWARE BEFORE YOU CONSIDER AN LG PRODUCT!
Lastly, customer service is terrible!
Our two-year-old LG refrigerator control cover panel delaminated in the second year. After replacing the panel the second panel is also now delaminating and now the ice dispenser sticks on and won’t shut off unless you hold the door open. Nothing but problems with this refrigerator.
We bought our LG refrigerator in September of 2015. In June of 2017 compressor stopped working. It took us three months to fix it…LG has the worst customer service. I really loved this fridge until it stoped working. I am hopping this compressor will work longer then 2 years.
Purchased LG French Door Refrigerator cost $4000 it was defective within first two weeks. After two months of fighting with them and no luck, the retailers Pacific Sales part of Best Buy gave in and exchanged it.
After just 12 months the replacement stopped working. No Cold Air. per a service tech it has a internal Freon leak, bad motherboard and bad compressor. Said not repairable. Was told since it went past the one year mark and I did not purchase an extended warranty from them I am out of luck.
I wish there was an attorney out there that would take on a Class Action Lawsuit against LG. Last year they had settled one for Refrigerators and now I am see there is one for Washers with mold. Which I also have.
I will never purchase LG products again! Take notice readers they are only interested in your money and the buck stops there!
Refridgeration has problems with the ice taste like stinky socks. Technician has no idea, getting really fed up with this frig.
My LG fridge model no GR,- 212GVK has an internal leakage because this is the third time I’m charging it with gas and every time it’s working for two to three-days and stops cooling and there is no gas in the system every time I’m replacing the filter. Where might this gas leakage be, evaporator or the internal condenser? N how can I fix it.
I am waiting for repair on my ice maker door today. It was replaced a little over a year ago when I had a problem, for $2400 I did not expect problems. Thank goodness for extended warrantee.
Just received my LG refrige, it’s been two days and the ice maker seems to have a water drip that is causing the ice not to pass through the dispenser due to the ice sticking together. I have from the beginning, had the ice set to cube but it looks to be crushing instead which doesn’t help with the water trickle.
I purchased the LG due to all the reviews. So far not happy with it.
I’ve had the same problem. In my case it is the result of water splashing over the edge of the ice tray as it fills. I’m having to pull out a block of ice every other day. I’ve also started having issues with the vertical bar on the left door blocking the fridge from completely closing. I have several good LG products; this isn’t one of them.
