In the current era of the smartphone, the Samsung rules the market with the monopoly as no other mobile manufacturers are even miles closer to it. Thanks to its wide range of mobile phones which are priced from around 5000 INR/100 USD to 50000 INR/1000 USD.
In the beginning of the year 2013, Samsung launched the Galaxy Grand which proved as a trend setter for other mobile and later Galaxy Grand 2 is on its way to provide more options and certainly to add more galaxies to the Samsung Universe.

Display and Body
Being the successor of the Galaxy Grand which had exact 5 inch screen, the Galaxy Grand 2 is slightly bigger with screen size of 5.2 inches. Both of them have the latest TFT screen and 16 million colours apiece.
Though, the 720*1280 pixel resolution with 280 pixels per inch (PPI) density the Galaxy Grand 2 has the edge in clarity and quality of image over Galaxy Grand which has 480*800 pixel resolution with 187 PPI only.
Although, the Grand 2 is bigger in size but, it is slightly slimmer with dimension of 5.78*2.96*0.35 inch than Grand with the dimensions of 5.65*3.03*0.38 inch. They both weigh 163 gram and 162 gram, respectively, not a point of discussion, I guess.
Technology and Memory
Galaxy Grand has android version 4.1.2 which is upgradable to 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 processor and 1GB RAM. On the other hand, Galaxy Grand is ahead in this section too with android version 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Quad Core 1.2 GHz chipset and 1.5GB RAM.
Surprisingly, the Grand 2 is not upgradable to the latest android 4.4 ‘KitKat’ which would have made it a much better option.
Both the Grand phones have 8GB internal memory which can be extended up to 64GB using the MicroSD card slot.
Camera and Battery
Samsung has provided the same 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera (1.9MP for Grand 2) for both of the Grand series phones. They both have autofocus and LED flash options and captures video at 1080p@30fps with stereo sound. So, the camera is actually not making any difference between the two phones.
While the Galaxy Grand has 2100 mAh Li-Ion battery which reportedly is able to provide nearly 10 hours of talktime and 400 hours of standby, the Grand 2 wins the race here with 2600mAh Li-Ion battery which is capable to give 17 hours of talktime and 450 hours of standby according to the Samsung sources.
Colors and Price
White color is common for the Grand phone with blue as another option for the Grand and black or pink for the Grand 2.
The most deciding feature for the success of a smartphone is its price and Samsung has created a dilemma for the users while choosing a Grand phone.
The Grand, which was launched at the price of around 21000 INR/380 USD is now available at nearly 17000 INR/309 USD. On the other hand, Grand 2 is set to be sold at the price of approximately 26000 INR/470 USD. It means that both the phones are exactly priced according to the features and now it’s up to you and you only who has to decide which is best for you.
If you want the latest technology in your hand, you should opt for Grand 2, but if you can manage with a phone which is little lower in the specs and won’t cost you much, then you can buy the Galaxy Grand.
