Hold the phone so that your palm covers the entire screen from top to bottom on the right side of the display. Slide the palm from right to left across the screen quickly being careful not to touch the screen until ready to swipe it.

  1. Open Settings > Motion > Hand Motion > Palm Swipe to Capture and then tick the box
 
  1. Set your hand on either side of the screen, then horizontally swipe across it – it doesn’t matter which way. If done correctly, you will hear the camera shutter and receive a notification that a picture has been saved to the gallery.
  This method might not work while you have an app open, in which case we even have the second method of taking screenshots. The second method is the safer one and works with almost all Android devices.

ALTERNATE METHOD:

  1. Pressing the Power and Home buttons at the same time will also grab an image of the screen, but hold it until you hear the shutter sound.
Both these methods go with Samsung Galaxy Notes as well, and the second method is also applicable to the Galaxy S2.

Taking a screenshot on Galaxy phones with Android (Ice Cream Sandwich) 4.0, 4.1, or 4.2: 
  1. Press the Power button and Volume down key simultaneously till you hear a click or see a screenshot sound. This also works on the Samsung Galaxy nexus.
Taking a screenshot on other Galaxy phones (Android 2.3 and below):

Unfortunately, Android 2.3 and below doesn't have screenshot process built-in. For this, the first thing that probably should be done is to update the older version to the latest version available for Galaxy S. If that’s not possible, such as those running 2.3 Gingerbread, you need to head over to the Google Play Store, where there are several apps that would help us. Like, Screenshot ER and Screenshot UX , but they often require phone to be rooted, or No Root Screenshot It if rooting is not possible. You'll need to install it on your phone and install its free companion app on your pc, that enables screenshots. Plug the hand held device into the pc every time you reboot it, but the good thing is even after that the screenshots can be taken directly from the phone.
