The ring has come up with a video doorbell that attaches to the peephole. This device makes it convenient for renters and apartment residents who may not want anything to do with drilling into the wall, closer to the door. The doorbell cam has similar features as Ring’s other doorbells. It can deliver live 1080p high-dimension video in real time.
The Ring door view cam is a battery-operated unit that has two parts. The outside part is equipped with two lenses. The top lens is an analog conventional peephole door viewer. The video camera is placed beneath the peephole door viewer. The inside part is where the battery is installed and doubles as the viewing lens for the peephole.
How the Ring Door View Cam works
The Ring Doorbell cam works similarly to an existing doorbell. The user is notified through the Ring app on their mobile devices in case the camera’s motion sensor is triggered, or when the doorbell button is pressed. The app then displays a live video from the doorbell and allows the user to converse with the person at the door. This happens even when the user is not in the house.
Ring’s Door View Cam also features an impact sensor. This one triggers an alert when a person knocks on the door instead of using the bell button.
In addition to the motion detector, the Door View Cam has night vision. This makes it similar to the other doorbell models from Ring. Even more, this new model has a feature called privacy zones. It allows users to specify certain areas in the door view. This way you can focus on what is relevant to you only.

Ring’s Door View Cam also works with Alexa. So, if you want a hands-free experience when monitoring your home, you got it.
It is one of Ring’s first devices to have the Smart Alerts feature. This feature was announced in October 2018 and is made available to users who are on a Ring Protect Plan. Smart Alerts feature verifies the movement detected and rules out false alarms. It even stops recording videos if motion is not important. You can also save and share videos and images if you are on a Ring Protect Plan. The plan is sold separately and will require subscriptions for you to gain access.

Installation of the Ring Door View Cam
As mentioned above, Ring Door View Cam does not require drilling during installation. Instead, all you need is to replace it with an already existing peephole on your door. It comes with the required accessories to make your work even easier. This makes it the most non-destructive option compared to previous doorbell versions from Ring.
