How do you Take a Screenshot on Chromebook?

If you are new to Chromebook then learning shortcuts might take some time, but once you get familiarized with its shortcuts then doing stuff will be much easier for you. One of the most used shortcuts on devices is to take a screenshot instantly.

A screenshot is an image you take of your screen to capture data on that screen which can be recorded to be used later or offline. You can take a screenshot of the complete screen or part of a screen according to your desired requirement.

But taking a screenshot on Chromebook is slightly different from that of a laptop or other devices.


How to take a screenshot on Chromebook:

There are two ways to take a screenshot on chromebook. To take a screenshot on a chromebook you need to remember Show open Windows key usually shown like this []]]. It is the same button which is marked as F5 on other devices.

Capture Entire Screen on Chromebook

If you want to capture the entire screen on Chromebook then press Ctrl and Show Windows key simultaneously, by doing so you will see a thumbnail of your screenshot appearing in the bottom right corner. By clicking that thumbnail a folder will open which is the default folder where all your screenshot goes.

The Chromebook has the feature that it displays all the screenshots with the time and date at which they were captured. Moreover, it should be remembered that these screenshots are available only in the local folder and won’t display in Google Drive, you have to manually upload them to Google Drive.

Capture Specific Part of the Chromebook Screen

If you don’t want to capture the complete screen of your Chromebook but only need to capture a specific part of your screen then all you have to do is press Ctrl and Show Windows key as well as the Shift button simultaneously.

By doing so the screen of the Chromebook will get dim, now drag the cursor along with the screen with the help of a mouse touchpad until you completely draw a box of your desired part of the screen you need to capture and let go of your cursor to take a screenshot.

The captured screenshot is downloaded in the same folder where the entire screen was downloaded.

Capture Chromebook in the Tablet Mode

If you are having a Chromebook and you are using it in Tablet mode, then the keyboard feature is off in Tablet mode. You can still take a screenshot on Chromebook while your keyboard is inactive.

In this scenario, all you have to do is press the Power button and Volume down button simultaneously to take a screenshot. Unfortunately, this is the only way to take a screenshot in Chromebook while in tablet mode and you’ll have to crop down the image after capturing to take a specific part of a screen.

Take a Screenshot on Chromebook using Stylus:

Moreover, if your touch screen of Chromebook works with a stylus, then you can also use this feature to take a screenshot. All you have to do is tap on Stylus, and then using stylus click on Capture Screen and this will capture your complete screen.

If you want to capture a specific part of a screen using a stylus then click tap on the stylus and then select the option of Capture Region. Now tap and hold the stylus to the starting point of your screenshot and drag it to the endpoint of the screenshot thereby making a box. Now release and screenshot will be taken. The screenshot will be downloaded in the same folder as earlier.

If you want to access older screenshots on your Chromebook, then look for a blue-colored folder style icon on the taskbar by clicking you can easily access all your screenshots.
